I recently imported a refurbished by manufacturer X1C 2015, the FHD version and the screen is awfully bad. I have been using laptops for a long time and I am not sure how a company can put such a bad display on a laptop of 2015. Maybe its a problem with my hardware ?
The screen has a yellow taint over it, the brightness is not consistent, i.e. the lower part of the screen is relatively brighter than the upper. So I am wondering if there is a way I can buy the QHD display and replace that on this machine. Is it even possible to do that, have anyone tried that before, any information in that regard would be really helpful.
Or if someone with the FHD version of the same laptop could help me verify if its an issue with my laptop's screen or a general issue with the laptop.
Replace the FHD display with a QHD(non-touch) on X1C 2015

Re: Replace the FHD display with a QHD(non-touch) on X1C 2015
i have a touch version of the X1 carbon, ver. 2 with the touch strip..
my display is just plain super..
in fact if it were not for the non-standard keyboard the X1 carbon would be my all time favorite thinkpad..
i have not heard of any bad displays on current X1's..
i would look to your vendor for a replacement..
shipping to pakistan has GOT to be expensive so i would ask the vendor to cover your shipping as well..

Thanks for your response, While it does help a bit to assure that my screen might be broken at the same time I want to make sure that I hear from the X1C 3rd Gen. FHD user about the display before I order a replacement screen and do it myself.BillMorrow wrote:i have a touch version of the X1 carbon, ver. 2 with the touch strip..

I am even wondering if its possible to put a QHD display on this one, looking at the disassembly both FHD and QHD are eDP with similar connector.
