HMD Assistance

#1 Post by Fuzion2099 » Fri Dec 18, 2015 9:35 pm

Hi,
I have version 1.86 of the HMD that I'm booting off a USB stick, and I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to work.

The hardware maintenance manual says to restart the computer and when the logo screen is displayed, to press Esc. I've tried that many times with no luck. When I press Esc it displays the diagnostics screen, and says "Press any Key to Exit." And when I press continue it just continues to boot into Windows.

I've tried many permutations of timing of the pressing the Esc, as well turning off Secure Boot, UEFI, CSM, etc.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Windows uses a hybrid shutdown which is really a form of hibernation. So Windows is not really shutdown so you don't get a fresh start on power on.

To avoid this shutdown hibernation when shutting down Windows press and hold down the shift key.

The next time you startup you should be able to access your USB drive.
