Thinkpad X220 to 1X Carbon 2015?

I have the Thinkpad X220 with 8GB RAM, IPS screen, i5-2520M CPU, and a 256GB SSD (Crucial). It is in perfect condition, but I would like a bigger screen than the 12.5".
I am wondering if the 2015 X1 Carbon with the i5/5300 processor,256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, and non-touch WQHD screen would provide significant speed increases.
Thanks for any constructive information and advice!

The CPUs bench in the same ballpark, so the newer CPU isn't likely to make much of a difference one way or the other. For most uses, it's the SSD, not the CPU, that makes a computer feel faster. If you need more oomph, perhaps one of the new Skylake T series offerings will get a quad core like the new Latitudes, but that remains to be seen.
As for the WQHD, scaling in Windows is a mixed bag and it'll be hard to read at that resolution. The T450s is a half pound or so heavier, but gets you the option of a FHD IPS LCD. That'd be my choice, but it's your money.

I purchased an X1 Carbon Touch i7 (5600U), WQHD, SSD 512GB, 5 year warranty/accidental loaded machine in December 2014, the WiFi AC standard exceeds my expectations, no blinking between pages! However, the X1 Carbon has Win10 PRO and it demands control of this machine, I must constantly reset privacy type settings! My Lenovo Tablets (Win 8.1) spoiled me, touch screen is now a must have.
My SSD machines, X220 i7 loaded, and X230 i7 loaded with Warranty/Accidental thru 2017, are great but the X1 feels 3x faster, planning to sell the X230.

I had a x220 and went for the X1 Carbon. Definitively a lot quicker, the 512 SSD is insanely fast
I have the huge screenresolution, but I don't use it much, I mostly run the screen at lower resolutions, so could have saved those dollars.
Mostly because of one of my eyes, which is troubling me at the moment
Edit: I do miss a smaller laptop, and would take the x250 if it wasn't for my stupid eye.

I have held off from buying. The X220 is running pretty well, battery is relatively new and in good shape. The screen remains excellent, and so there remains little to complain about except for the speed, which I think could be quite a bit faster. The 14" at the same weight (or actually a bit less) sounds interesting, but maybe the new T460s will be even better -- if not too expensive.
