Recently I ordered the Samsung 950 pro SSD from Amazon. I created a disc image and tried a million different things, but unfortunately my computer would not recognize the SSD. I got "error 2100" which is basically a hard drive initialization error. I was so frustrated and [censored] off about this that I called in a local computer repair dude to see if he could figure it out. Nothing worked. I send the 950 pro back and ordered another one just to see if it was an issue with my laptop or the hard drive.
I even reset my windows 10 from scratch to see if that would do anything too. However, when I booted up windows 10 again I had a few minor issues which I have been unable to resolve. First off, my fingerprint scanner is no longer working, which could potentially be a hardware issue but you never know. It doesn't even show up in the device manager anymore. It used to be called biometric devices or something like that. I have all the proper drivers installed so I have no idea what's going on there.
Finally, my windows 10 search is no longer working. If I search something like "add or remove devices" it will fail to find any results.
This all may seem bad when put together, but I really love this laptop aside from a few things. If anyone has any solutions to any of these issues I would really appreciate the help.
What doesn't make sense to me is that the hard drive that came with my carbon works fine, but for some reason it was unable to recognize the 950 pro. It MUST be the new SSD correct?
Sorry for the ramble!

Welcome to the exasperating world of W10.
For some strange reason in many laptops you cannot just insert a new drive and start installing something.
You'll first need to connect the new drive (e.g. using a USB enclosure or other adapter) to a working machine, call up diskmgmt.msc and do an Initialize of that new drive.
After that, no more problem(s) with that new drive.

Holy [censored] great news!
I was able to return my old 950 pro through amazon. My new one arrived in the mail and it worked instantly. The speeds are so fast I literally cannot keep up with my computer. Normally when you do tasks you wait for things to load but I almost feel like my PC is waiting for me to keep the pace. Also, my windows 10 search works.
The only pressing issue is the finger print scanner functionality. It still does not show up in the device manager but honestly the fingerprint thing is sort of a gimmick anyways.
But ya, this seriously makes a world of difference. The speed is so fast that if I were to go back to what it was before it would feel like a snail pace in comparison. Everything literally downloads instantly. It's just so fast.
