Here is a batch of actual hands-on reviews on X1 Carbon Gen-5 (circa 2017), which uses Kaby Lake processors !

As an aside, it looks like Microsoft is about to force "no more Windows Update for Windows 7" on Kaby Lake unfortunately.
ie: X1 Carbon Generation 5 (X1C5) ultimately cannot run Windows 7 (Windows Update disabled):

Another idea: Run Windows 7 as a Virtual Machine in X1C5 ;)

We've just noticed that the 2560x1440 (WQHD) non-touch LCD had just been made available in some markets for X1C5 (5th Gen, circa 2017) !
