X1C 1st Gen Black screen after driver update

#1 Post by fob » Mon May 29, 2017 8:17 pm

Hi,

I hope someone can help me with this problem. I obtained a X1C 3444-GYU from a friend. The display needed to be replaced which I did. I wiped the drive and reinstalled windows 8.1 and everything works with the microsoft display drivers. However when I update for the Intel HD 4000 drivers through windows update or manually I get a black screen during driver installation and when I restart the computer freezes during windows loading.

I'm able to boot in safe mode and roll back drivers then everything is fine.

Do you have the Product Recover DVD's ?

It might be easier with this method...
Daily Driver: (X1E3) X1 Extreme 3rd Gen | mobile broadband (WWAN)
Current Thinkpads: X1E3 | X1E1 | X1C10 | X1C9 | X1C4 | X1C3 | X230
Retired Thinkpads: X250 | T410 | T42 | 560 (circa 1996)

Unfortunately no I don't have the DVDs and Lenovo says my x1c is not eligible for recovery download. Does someone have the DVD's and could upload an image?
