Hi,
I have X1 Carbon 20A7 OS Win 7.
When I press the power button the button light and the adaptive keys lights and the keyboard lights and the red dot light on the cover, they all flashing and every thing else is dead,
except the fan which work and stop in each flash,
which might suggest that the laptop is turn on and off in each flash.
The reset hole is the only thing that turn off the flashes.
Any idea about the reason or the solution?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
Sorry for your trouble.
In my experience with this issue and this ThinkPad the only solution is to replace the mother board sorry to say.

Re: X1 Carbon Gen 2 keyboard lights flashing when turn on
Thanks brad for the quick reply.
It seems that it is the only solution to the problem.
I still wonder what was the reason,
because the day before it crash I made a few online updates suggested by Lenovo System Update, including BIOS update.
So, is it just a technical failure of the mother board
or something was wrong with the updates?

What I can say is that I have seem many X1 Carbon 2nd gen with the same issue.
I haven't known what happened just before the issue.
What I do know is that the original mother board part was replaced by Lenovo going back a year and a half or so and I have seen zero issues with these new part number mother boards. I have seen quite a number of them say upwards of 100.
