Keyboard Troubles

#1 Post by allisterbradley » Sun Mar 10, 2019 4:09 pm

Hello,

I'm trying to fix a ThinkPad for a friend. The keyboard seems to have a mind of its own. Key presses result in unusual results. Some keys get no result.

I've installed a replacement keyboard, and the situation is better, but still not normal. Some keys do multiple things.

Notice that this problem only affects the laptop keyboard. A connected USB keyboard functions normally.

Any ideas?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Allister

Check for shorts or damage to the keyboard plug. Also would help if you told us which model TP you are fixing because different ones have different keyboard plugs.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

It’s an X1 Carbon Gen 3.

Have you asked your friend if he spilled something into it?

Notice that I already mentioned - I’ve replaced the keyboard.

That means very little if liquid was spilled into the machine.
