Re: X1 Carbon or X1 Yoga - buying advice
The last time we've checked (3 years ago), X1 Yoga component upcharge increments are higher than X1 Carbon.
ie: If you wish to upgrade to the top tier SSD OR RAM, the upcharge for X1 Yoga is higher, as compared to X1 Carbon...
But then again, that was when we seriously compared X1 Carbon Gen 4 (X1C4) vs X1 Yoga of that generation...ymmv

finally I bought a T450s with i7 5600u cpu
Re: X1 Carbon or X1 Yoga - buying advice
Thats a nice specification to get for 350 Euros. In my place, the specification like these would definitely cross 500 Euros. Anyways, i7 is the beast. Congratulation once again. I'm also planning to upgrade my walmart one Thinkpad, should consider our specifications.

I've had a few Carbon X1 laptops. I'm typing this on a 2nd Gen. All were excellent for me.
My needs are light, so the 1st and the 2nd serve me extremely well. Super fast for my needs.
It just depends on your requirements and what you need.
Good luck,
dorronto

T450s is a nice machine. I put a 2242 SATA m.2 SSD in there and kept the harddrive for storage.
The FHD panel is nice, with 90+% sRGB coverage. At least it is for the AU Optronics panel. It's a bit on the dim side, but okay for indoor.
I'm not sure if it's just applicable for the models with a touch screen, but the lid has a habit of cracking because the hinges are too tight. When you open the lid, check the side to see if there is any flexing. However, since it's survived five years already, you're probably okay. I ended up having to loosen the hinges on mine, to prevent it from getting worse. (This applied to the T440s, as well, which is the same case.)
BTW, I love my X1 Yoga. So slim. No issues with the hinges here, since it is designed better. For the T series, the hinges should really be mounted to the bottom, so the stress is placed on the bottom case when opening.

We pulled the trigger on X1 Carbon Gen 9 (X1C9), because of its 16:10 LCD 14" screen (HURRAY...it's back!!),
and X1C9 has much better port selection than the X1 Yoga.
Very satisfied with X1C9 just received!
