Finding CMOS Battery for X1 Carbon 3rd Gen
Finding CMOS Battery for X1 Carbon 3rd Gen
Anyone know where the CR1620 battery for the X1 Carbon 3rd Gen (type 20BS) can be found or if there are any alternative compatible batteries?
Searching eBay, Amazon, Aliexpress, etc hasn't yielded me anything yet.

Re: Finding CMOS Battery for X1 Carbon 3rd Gen
CR1620 seems to be a 3V battery.. Pls. take my words with a pinch of salt but where one battery is applicable shouldn't another one be applicable as well? Both CR2032 and CR2025 seem to be 3V; if you manage to connect them somehow.. disclaimer: never did it myself. But then don't all Thinkpads have the same battery connector? That would mean that you should be able to purchase CMOS batt for any non-ancient Thinkpad and just plug that in. There should be some batteries on ebay. Batteries for fresher models probably got a chance to be fresher. Otherwise think they are all interchangeable. I think there used to be some rechargeable batts on some really really old models but that was probably some 20 years ago.. Otherwise all should be interchangeable.
As an anecdote I wasn't able to purchase Thinkpad batteries from TaoBao. They did arrive to superbuy.com but then superbuy.com couldn't send them forward 'cause shipping companies didn't take batteries!
So my super-cheap purchase of batts didn't work out.. I hoped to add them to an otherwise not that much related shipment.

Check eBay for 04X0443 which fits X1C2/X1C3 (and others).

CR 1620, 2025 and 2032 are all 3V lithium batts. The first 2 digits is the diameter in mm last 2 are depth in mm with a decimal between the two digits. You'll have trouble fitting a CR 2025 or 2032 in a CR1620 space. The other two are more or less interchangeable, except in a tightly fitted space.

may be able to find on ebay.
challenge is finding replacement cmos battery with the exact same white 2-pin connector. close or similar is not ok, as will not fit into female connector on laptop. And can be hard to confirm a connector match based on ebay images provided by sellers.
if cannot find replacement with correct white connector, you can also pursue DIY option using the existing connector = only replace the silver button battery. see following post titled: Re: X1 Yoga 1st Gen - DIY replacing cr2016 cmos battery

The contacts inside those connectors are all the same.
Just get a new CMOS of the right size with whatever connector, then swap the connectors between old and new, making sure to keep the red cable on the correct side.
