X1 Extreme Gen 4 vapor chamber questions

Happy New Year everyone...I have an X1 Extreme Gen 4 on order. Well, two of them because I found out about the performance of non-vapor chamber models and my cancellation didn't clear in time.

I'm wondering:
1. Can anyone confirm if the lower CPU performance of the non-VC models is true
2. If anyone has swapped a VC into a non-VC model and somehow kept WWAN in place without extensive modifications.

Very late response on my part, but it looks like the vapor chamber occupies area of the board that the WWAN slot is on. I highly doubt you can fit the vapor chamber onto the lower spec boards even without a WWAN card installed.
