CPU fan swapping in X1 Carbon

#1 Post by dandreye » Thu Mar 16, 2023 1:43 pm

Hi All,

Just curious if there's an X1 Carbon generation with an easily swappable CPU fan, i.e. w/o the need to disturb the heatsink attachment to the CPU?
I'm really struggling to understand what prevented them from designing it similar to some Dell and perhaps many other laptops where that's the case:
it doesn't seem to matter at all from the ventilation efficiency point of view... unless I'm missing something.

Thanks in advance!

All the Carbons I've seen have an integrated fan and heatsink. The fans are pretty special, too - they're in a custom shroud that mates up to the side (or rear) of the case.
