X1 Carbon 11 gen External Hard Drive Random Disconneciton

Hello everyone, Im having an issue with a brand new X1 Carbon gen 11. When connecting an external Hard Drive or a Thumbdrive to mi right USB A port, during data transfer/deletion, it will randomly disconnect/connect and interrupt the process. The problem does not occur with the left USB A port.

I Installed every available update on Vantage software and Windows 11 while setting up the machine, so I dont know if the problem was there before doing all of this.

I did a hardware Scan with vantage with 100% pass, and also downloaded the advanced scan software. While running the advanced scan on the external Hard Drive the same problem occurs, it desconnects/conncets and interrupts the scan.

I tried a wireless mouse with the dongle in the same USB A and seemed to work fine.

Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

hello and welcome to the forum..

sound to me like a flaky USB A port..
have you tried "wiggling" the USB plug while in the USB socket so as to verify the flaky socket..?

if this is a NEW X1 then it should be under warranty..

Yes I already contacted warranty, but just wanted to check if maybe it was some easy to fix issue. I will try to wiggle the port to see what occurs, thanks for the recomendation.

So just to keep everyone updated on the issue, warranty already sent a technician to my home to swap the motherboard, problem still persists. Apparently a problem across the lineup with the right USB A Port Hardware/Software, since I already found 2 other user posts having somewhat the same or similar issue.

from my experience, the tech's lenovo sends out for on site warranty may not be exactly the best solution..
when i used this service, many years ago, the guy was not very familiar with the thinkpad, though he did replace the display but failed to reassemble the thinkpad correctly..
i AM in the country, your mileage will vary if you are in a big metropolitan area..

Seconding this. I'm currently in Day Two of my "next business day" onsite Premier Service, and yesterday's appointment was missed with no show, no call, no follow-up. The tech finally contacted me today and tried to foist me off until Friday. Unsure why we pay for service that Lenovo disregards.
