Hard drive in the ThinkPad X1?

#1 Post by rarirurero » Tue May 24, 2011 2:09 am

The new X1 is looking quite nice (didn't see a forum for it yet) but I'm holding back until I know for sure I can replace the HDD with an SSD later down the road rather than shelling out $280 for a 128GB one. Is it a standard 2.5" drive? SATA II?

(Also, is there any point to upgrading the WiFi adapter? The stock card is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 and it goes up to Advanced-N 6205 (2x2 AGN) and Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 AGN) but I've always been reasonably satisfied even with 802.11g speeds...)

I found the FRU parts list for the X1: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-77531. A few interesting details: It's tempting to get an X1 -- are 2.5" x 7mm (why do they need to mix units?) SSDs common?
