Dead power adaptor and micro usb gotten much worse

Last night the power adapter died. The extension cord it was plugged into was very hot where the adaptor was plugged in. Maybe the cord killed the adaptor.
Asnd the micro USB port has gotten worse.
I have many micro USB chargers and cables designed for phones but none of them except a very light weight one are not working on the TPT.
I have it charging now 6 hours and not yet 70 %.
One of my chargers accepts a USB - micro cable but the TPT cable is also not working nor any other cables either.
Is this the death of the USB port I've been reading about?
Is the USB micro standard off the shelf or Lenovo special?
Waiting for IBM Israel to get back to me.
Thanks for any help you can give.

see my first impressions post..
i did not like the micro-USB charging solution..
way too lightweight and the lenovo supplied cable is way too stiff thus "working" the micro-USB socket if the tablet is moved while charging..
i bought a longer, more flexible micro-USB cabe but it will not charge..
probably due to the lighter gauge wires not being up to a 2 amp charge current..
so far i see this as a negative in an otherwise very nice product..
and sadly the regular USB port can not be used to charge the tablet..

I too think that the wire gauge is a problem.
I have tried all the fermentations of charger and cable to get it to work.
My TPT charger is definitely bricked.
The TPT cable will charge my phone with my Car/Wall 1 Amp adapter but it will not charge my TPT.
Same with the cable that came with the car charger: phone OK, TPT no go.
Same with cable from HTC: phone OK, TPT no.
As I said the only one working is a 1 Amp charger with a slightly thicker built in cable - not as thick as the TPT cable.
I'm at a loss to figure this out: Is my USB port rapidly on its way out?
Still waiting for a call back from IBM.

After 12 days I have my TPT back BUT!!!!
New motherboard and the micro USB fits good.
BUT!!!
The did not (check) or replace the AC power supply or USB cable as I asked them to do.
Trickle charging with 1 Amp phone charger.
Also the motherboard comes back with:
Serial # 000000
Model: 00000
What can I do???

call support back..
they SHOULD just send you a new 2a. adapter..
i got a long micro usb to usb cable with a right angle micro end..
works for about 5 seconds then charging stops..
probably because the cable is too light..
Also the motherboard comes back with:
Serial # 000000
Model: 00000
again, call support..
in thinkpads, there WAS a secret key combination that would allow direct access to bios memory and these could be changed.. i don't know about the TPT in this regard..
i rather imagine lenovo service will be emb arassed by the tech missing this step when replacing the system board..
FWIW i love the TPT hardware, i'm just not so pleased with android.. it really NEEDS a hibernate facility..
