As luck would have it ; then came along the Asus Rep with a NEW SHINNNNNNYYY thing!
Asus Infinity TF700

(unlocked boot loader and factory rooted) + keybaord dock and PEN !!! wow ! talk of IPS PLUS screen = Pure delight ! (senses overloaded on 1080P movie watching ! ......so here's wishing Lenovos thinkpad comes close !

Pity it dont have a RED DOT in there ,,,,,,,,,,thus still making me save some space in my old ticker for Thinkpads! LOL!

ICS..?
if ICS = Ice Cream Sandwich - Android v. 4.?? then lenovo did indeed update to that OS..
i recently let my tablet update itself to ICS..

i've not messed with it much but it seems to be an improvement..

now if it only will offer suspend and hibernate we'll be most of the way home.. :)

Yips > apologies for Aussie Writting :::
ICS = that in the CONE variety.... which by DEFAULT OFFERS:
> suspect and Hybernate (hardware dependant)
> face rec'isation ( like lenovo has in Ideapad laptops)
> NFC > like old IBM;s file tranfer via 'file tranfer interface' ...ols thinkpadders should know this
Blah blah...

ASUS = build new TF700 "infinity" range of Andriod Tablet(s) and in US = NON- 4G models so far.
The 4G=LTE models in Taiwan = has 'snap-dragon' proc ...which is what the older Lenovo Le-pad has had
so there was lots of 'talk' around their PM's (product managers) sometime near Vegas show in Feb for that LE-PAD to
be used for TP Tablet = and beat ASUS to the market ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ah well >> this = ' got tied of waiting' comment!!

On the PLUS side ... this shinny new Infinity .... has:
FULL SIZE - usb3.0+ SD card slots
Mini slot - HDMI _ and SDHC slot
universal Power supply .. 110v&240v charger and also able to charge out of any USB2.0 slot
IPS+Plus screen and DOCK with keybaord that looks like the Older TP (without that much loved RED DOT!!)

so there some catching up to do ............can u hear me mr LeNOOOvo !

cheers

AFAIK, Android and other smartphone OSes have no concept that's similar to desktop OS's sleep and hibernation. When it's off (not real off) they enter a state that draws little battery like that of standby on desktop which can last for days.

Am I missing something...?

Cheers.

AFAIK, Android and other smartphone OSes have no concept that's similar to desktop OS's sleep and hibernation.....
and therin lies the problem..
android being for a "smart phone" does not know it is now living in a device more suited to computational tasks rather than being used for voice communication..

one never shuts off the smart phone but one DOES want to shut down the tablet and return to a still charged device..

android is fun and all that but this merely re-enforces my original thought that it is not appropriate for a tablet device..

tablet windows where ARE youuuu....? :)
