ThinkPad Tablet 2 keyboard and stylus

#1 Post by BillMorrow » Mon Apr 07, 2014 12:56 am

hmm, this conference looks a bit dead.. maybe time to close up and quit..?
but until then....

i picked up a tablet 2 from lenovo refurb department.. with win 8 etc. but when it arrived, NO stylus and i see a big need for a bluetooth keyboard..

anyone have any suggestions..
want to sell off a keyboard or stylus..??

otherwise the tablet 2 is a much smoother piece of work than the earlier android tablet..
i really did not like those buttons across the one end of that earlier version..

thinkpad bluetooth compact keyboard is great with the TPT2. Does your TPT2 have a pen silo?

yes, it has a pen silo but its blocked off..
i guess i was too fast when i ordered the tablet 2 and failed to pay attention..

there are bluetooth keyboards for $35 delivered (amazon has several) which i guess i'll go for unless i find something else..

what does having the pen silo have to do with the keyboard..

FWIW i've been using a "pen" with a soft end to work with this iPad and the tablet 2 until i find a out if this tablet (lazy, no time to read the details) which works but not as well as it should..

and thinking back to the thinkpad tablet with android i did use a USB keyboard for an experiment..
hmmm, time to see if the IBM trackpoint USB keyboard works on the tablet 2..

edit:
could not find a USB trackpoint keyboard laying around that would fit the tablet 2 so i improvised and used a USB extension cable and the andriod tablet keyboard/folio made for it..
i now recall what i don't particularly like about that trackpoint and keyboard..
the chicklet keys are tricky to use and the so called trackpoint, while useable, is little more than a tiny touch pad in the usual trackpoint position..
all-in-all i think i'll get one of those chinese made bluetooth folio/keyboard things for $35 more or less from amazon..

my overall impression of this tablet 2 running win8 is a 7 out of 10..
reasons is its tricky to use the touch accurately, win8 in kind of mysterious and much too graphic (so far) for my taste..
the display on the tablet is very nice..
i guess i should have gotten one of these when they were released but with limited funds i'm not about to buy retail for the benefit of lenovo who really does not like me at all..
