Anyone using a thinkpad 2 to remote access a thinkpad laptop
I have a thinkpad edge e530 running windows 7 pro. I am thinking about buying a Lenovo - ThinkPad Tablet 2 10.1 inch Model: Tablet 2 - 367927US. It has windows 8 pro and wifi. I am wondering how good this will work to remote access the laptop. I am a mechanic and I want to be able to access my laptop, which is on my toolbox, from inside the car with a tablet.

interesting question..
AND, BTW, unless you need a digital pen with the tablet 2 there are a few really good deals for refurb tablet 2's at lenovo ($250 more or less) and with the pen at amazon)..
exactly what do you mean when you say "access" your thinkpad laptop from a tablet 2..?
welcome to the forum..
edit:
AND, just FWIW i use a thinkpad tablet running android to talk to the computer on my elderly mercedes S600.. the very difficult 2001 model with the poor electronics..

I know i could probably just run everything through the tablet and leave the labtop out of it but, everything here is hardwired running on window 7 pro. Thats what gm (who i work for) recommends. my computer is hardwired to the network and so is the car. We do have wifi but i dont want to do programing over wireless. We have tried and sometimes it doesnt work and then we have a mess. Basicilly I am looking for a wireless touch screen monitor. I want to be able to control and see my laptop which is on my toolbox from the car. I know this is a round about way of doing it but i want to program the way gm says to but be able to see and control it wireless. If you have any other way of doing it im up for suggestions.
thanks
thanks

heh..
I never thought about it..
i'm sure there is an app that I can't think of at the moment which will allow you remote control of your laptop..
maybe over a Bluetooth link or more likely a wifi link to the laptop and not the general wifi setup for the dealership or shop.. a peer to peer wifi link.. but its been so long that I've tried anything out of the ordinary I have little more to offer just now..
maybe ask in the general questions rather than the tablet conference..
I can move this thread there if you wish..

Microsoft Remote Desktop is available for Android devices amongst others such as 2X Remote Desktop Client:

There is also a Chrome Remote Desktop extension, which once added to Chrome on a PC enables you to remote desktop in from your Android device via Chrome:
