Question on HDMi audio support [pictures]

#1 Post by SurrealMustard » Sun Jul 10, 2016 9:04 pm

Does the Tablet 2 support audio output over HDMi or is it for video only?

HDMI supports sound. To enable it, you have to go into the sound settings in the control panel and set the playback settings to use the TV.
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, A31p, T23, 600X, 770
Other: mk5 Toughbook cf-19, mk1 Toughbook cf-53

Is that under audio playback devices? If so, does it only show up when the HDMi is plugged in? All I see right now is the analog audio output stream (speakers/headphones).

Confirmed working!

Just to follow up on this, I can now confirm that the Tablet 2 does indeed support audio over HDMi. As I suspected, it doesn't show up at all under playback devices until something is actually connected, at which point it is automatically selected as the default. I'll have to test it with surround, but if past experiences with HDMi audio are any indication, it should be successful.

On a sidenote, I can also confirm that the Tablet 2, unlike traditional netbooks, supports dualview (also shown in the picture).
