Twist s230u HMD/EEPROM issue

#1 Post by rjorgensen » Tue Jan 29, 2019 9:37 am

Hi all. Not sure where to post s230 / Twist messages so I figured it's a "convertible".... anyway...
I replaced the battery in my Thinkpad Twist s230u and got the EAIA / UUID / Serial Number etc messages showing at startup.
I have the (latest?) Hardware Maintenance USB (I downloaded v1.90 from the forum, but it says 1.89, it's 17TM38US) and I can't get past the "EEPROM is write-protected" error. I have tried pressing ESC at bootup many times with no luck; I think I have it unlocked in the BIOS settings properly.
Any suggestions? Is there a newer HMD available?
The laptop works fine, just getting the annoying EAIA message with loud beeps on startup

Apparently you are not alone with that EAIA problem, see this: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S ... -p/1477070
Try some of their suggestions.
My only 'contact' with a Twist was its IPS LCD, which I put in my X220.

As for the HMD, try removing the touchpad cabla and then boot that USB stick.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
