ThinkTab Compatibility with USB to Serial Adapters

Hi,

I'm REALLY interested in getting a Thinkpad Tablet (possibly a bunch for my colleagues) if It can work with a USB to Serial adapter and a terminal to configure Cisco equipment.

I currently use a Belkin branded PL2303 adapter, I've done a bit of research which suggest that "Linux" has native support for this device, so I'm hoping the Tablet will.

I'm also hoping that someone with a Tablet might be in a position to test this for me!

I'm looking into the same thing, but unfortunately haven't been able to find any information on drivers.

There are however, a number of people out there using a serial to bluetooth adapter to connect the to serial end of the rollover cable and then connecting to the adapter via bluetooth. While not quite the solution I'm looking for (including prices that go from $60 on up for the adapter), it does seem that a number of people are using this method.

Lenovo only includes USB drivers for HID (KBD / Mouse) and mass storage. Unfortunately, the nature of the way android handles drivers pretty much eliminates the ability of end users to install drivers (at least from what I have seen). This means, you'd need root.

With regard to Bluetooth Serial profile support, I am not sure if that is installed either. I have not been able to get mine to connect to incoming USB ports shared on my win7pc nor have I been able to my PC establish outgoing ports with the ThinkPad. Welcome to the world of embedded operating systems.
