How to use biometric fingerprint reader in Win 8?

I feel like suchanoob for asking this. But when I try to enroll my thumb in Windows 8 control panel, sliding my thumb over it does nothing. I slid it over and over in varying pressure and speed and nothing happens. When I first started doing it, it would at least sometimes say my stroke was too short. But now when I try it, it doesn't even do that.

Nevermind, I after rebooting a few times, it seemed to work now.

There's a bar at the bottom that shows how often you have to swipe every finger to get it set up.

I had to swipe every finger about eight times before the bar filled up.
