thinkpad w500 power manager issues with windows 8
hi.
i have installed power manager, and every start up i get this messege:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5410732/New%20 ... -23-36.jpg
I went to the path "C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utilities" and discovered that the file "PWMOSDV.EXE" is the file causing this error.
i have looked in task manager under "startup", and i can see "program", but i have no way to change its path(i thought maybe its naming problem wirh program files X86 path).
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5410732/New%20 ... -38-32.jpg
because it does not work, i have an empty battery gauge:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5410732/New%20 ... -29-35.jpg
i think this is also a reason i cannot install the switchable graphics driver.(btw)
any idea how to solve this?
thanks.
*Edit*
when i start the power manager, and i go to the "options" tab, i choose "show battery gauge" and hit "apply" and get the same messege:

Re: thinkpad w500 power manager issues with windows 8
Have you installed "Intel Chipset Support for Windows 8", "Hotkey Features Integration for Windows" (which includes the "System Interface Driver"), and the "Lenovo Power Management Driver"? I believe these should be installed as a minimum.

Which version of Power Manager do you have installed? How did you install it also? My Power Manager for my T400 is functioning perfectly perhaps I can help

power manager 6.36.
i have installed it normal way, windows 7 compatibility mode and windows xp sp3 compatibility mode.
all install fine, and the power manager does start, but i get the same error at start up, no display at gauge, and icant switch to energy saving graphic card.

Since Power Manager is NOT SUPPORTED for use with Win 8 General Availability, it's hardly surprising that you are having problems with itK-a-M-u-Z-u wrote:i have installed power manager, and every start up i get this messege

Re: thinkpad w500 power manager issues with windows 8
I am having similar fun with an X201T with Windows 8 upgraded from Windows 7.
Everything seemed to work ok except that I got the RunDLL error on boot and if I tried to use some of the Power Manager options (Power Off Display and Configure Battery Stretch). Also Show Time Remaining does nothing.
I cured the RunDLL error on boot (actually when switching to Desktop for the first time) by uninstalling the HotKey package (run the install and select the bits to be removed). I used this technique to remove the Autoscroll utility as advised by the upgrade wizard. I've now uninstalled the rest. I hope this helps!
I have tried uninstalling the Power Management Driver but Uninstall from Programs and Features does nothing. I have reinstalled the Windows 8 version obtained from the Lenovo site http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... ku09ww.exe.
Uninstall still does not work, and neither do the functions listed above.
How do I manually uninstall the Power Management Driver if the normal uninstall doesn't work? I suspect that something is bent and would like to reinstall it from scratch to see if that fixes the oddities.
Thanks, Keith
