Middle Trackpoint Button Configuration

#1 Post by craigmontHunter » Sat Jan 19, 2013 8:07 pm

I've loaded windows 8 on my T61, and have run into a problem that may be enough for me to switch back to 7; when the ultranav drivers are installed, the touchad works as expected, and has all the configuration options (tap zones, scrolling...). the problem I have is with the trackpoint. While I can adjust most of the settings for it (speed, press to select...) I cannot configure the middle button. Right now it operates in the normal scrolling mode, however I would like it to operate as middle click.

I have tried the Lenovo drivers and the synaptic drivers, and they both have the same issue. I was wondering if anyone knew a solution to this or even a registry edit that could be performed to change what it is set to, as I have not been able to find anything on google or elsewhere on the forum.

I uninstalled all drivers, and then installed the latest directly from Synaptics.

That allowed my middle mouse button to work.

Please note that I formatted in between, so you may have to do so as well :(

Thanks for the tip, I got fed up with it not working so I went back to 7. Unfortunately the system seems to have decided that it has had enough of my abuse and has given up the ghost, and looks like it may be completely FUBAR  .

For anyone coming from Google, I found that this solution worked for me
With the default window update installed Lenovo thinkpad drivers, fire up regedit.

Navigate to:
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\UltraNavPS2 (note HKCU, not HKLM)
Change "TrackPointMode" to dword:00002214 from the previous value of 00001214

Then reboot/log out and back in...
