Win8 startup problem T60

#1 Post by hhmcsv » Thu Sep 19, 2013 2:04 pm

I have upgraded a T60 (model 2007-FVG) from Win7 to Win8 pro. Upgrade and subsequent Windows update went without errors. But it displays a startup-problem as follows:
Restart sequence works normal.
Startup from cold only gets as far as displaying the Windows8 symbol, and then the machine goes into hibernation (I think!). If I then again presses the power-button, the laptop starts almost normal.
I have tried to do a reinstall several times - no succes.
I have tried to update Master Boot Record (MBR) following this link:
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-res ... ot-issues/, but also no difference.
I have 3 other T60 in the family with similar upgrade history, but nothing like this problem.
Would a BIOS-update do the trick?
Any other suggestions to correct this annoying error would be much appreciated!

I know now, that it is "Windows Update" that causes the error. I tried a clean install, and after this the T60 was booting in 20secs - perfect :D
But after installing the Windows update backlog (59 updates), the error reappeared :(
