No more Skype for Windows 8.1 tablet devices ?

"Anyone trying to access the modern application on PCs starting from July 7 forward will be automatically directed to download the desktop application"

I understand that the Modern (Metro) version was horrible on desktop/notebook devices but it was still better optimized on tablet touch devices than the desktop version The desktop version also lacks Hi-DPI awarness support so it is blurry.

Note: it needs clarification whether tablet/transformer devices are also 'affected' or not.
