USB recovery media to DVD??

#1 Post by jpthinkpadfan » Thu Nov 29, 2018 5:11 pm

Just created a USB recovery thumb drive for my T460. Question: is it possible to create DVDs from it? I don't recall seeing an option during the media creation. This is for Win10ProX64.

USB Thumbsticks are relatively inexpensive nowadays... typically a 16 GB (or even 32 GB) one can be had for a reasonable price...

My X1C4 (X1 Carbon Gen 4) USB Recovery thumb drive contained about 11 GB worth of data.
As this data would span over a few DVD, who would do the programming to ask you to swap for DVD Disc #3 for example?
Might not be worth the effort IMHO...

Thanks! That's a valid point regarding usb drives. Usually I do burn these DVDs for archive purposes.

A 32gb flash drive at my local microcenter was 4$ last time I went in there (like a week ago).

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Alternatively, you can download a Windows 10 disc from Microsoft and do it the old fashioned way, presuming you've got an optical drive. Then just run Windows Update. It's more time consuming, but you could pick the stuff your like and leave off the stuff you don't.
