BIOS update

#1 Post by Peter Linu » Sun Jun 13, 2021 9:41 pm

I finally got around to replacing the heat sink/fan on one of my T440p. At the same time I replaced the stock standard CPU i5-4300 (2-core) with a i7-4712 (4-core). I used graphite cloth instead of paste.
This resulted in the temperature being exactly the same as my 'Everyday' T449p = 58deg.
While this is an improvement, it is nowhere near what I want. According to others here I should be idling at around 40deg.
A propellorhead friend suggested that I upgrade the BIOS. I went to the Lenovo site and found upgrades for Windows but not for Linux Mint Cinnamon.
What do I do?
T440p#2 Mint 20.1 Cinnamon+Win7, CPU i5-4300, RAM 8Gb, SSD 500Gb, HDD 1Tb

Make a bootable CD/USB from the BIOS-ISO: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ie/en/prod ... s/ds037575
