Non-Genuine Replacement Battery

Can you use a non-Lenovo battery instead? I've heard that even with a clean install of Win7 the T530 will tell you that it will not charge a non-genuine battery even before it boots into Win7. Are there any workarounds? It seems to be at the BIOS level.

I believe you cannot because of the rapid charge feature. They've chipped them to disallow any third-party batteries or even older Lenovo batteries.

Come on, that's not that fair, I mean least Lenovo have high end models that ALLOW you to change the batteries. The move to non replaceable batteries (and that awful keyboard) was the straw that broke the camel's back for me with Apple and, consequently, the reason I still use a '08 MBP 17" as my main Mac today, still has one hellish screen though.
