16GB in the X1 or the T430U, is it possible?

I am sorry, I just cannot abide by an 8GB limit in these laptops. Is it possible and has anyone tried to put 16GB in these? The CPU supports it, right?

X1C has soldered RAM, and the maximum is 8GB, period. That configuration must be ordered from the factory since the RAM on these is not user-upgradeable.
No clue on T430U.

While Ivy Bridge CPUs supports 16 GB (it actually supports 32 GB, but you can't find modules that large), Intel provides their Ultrabook platform with RAM soldered in. Unless you're good with micro-sized soldering spots, none of the machines using this platform are upgradable.
Does Intel really wonder why sales of ultrabooks have been so bad? (only 5% of the market this year).

I am almost pretty sure the T430u has two RAM slots, which would mean it would handle 16GB. Check the HMM just to be sure before you buy it.
Edit: According to this post, the T430u does indeed have two RAM slots:

I have a T430U and can confirm that 16GB works. I installed this kit:

Also dirty cheap...
