this is the configuration I think to order from Lenovo CANADA
Purpose: general computing, some movie, picture, sound editing, ACAD etc.
1. I specially count on XP mode running smoothly and efficiently as some of my apps are 16 bit, even running in DOS, besides hate Win7 and whatever comes after it)
2. Another thing is WiFi, would prefer Intel 6300 AGN, but found long forum discussion on problems coming out of sleep mode so selected 6205 instead
3. Ericsson H5321gw is offered in Canada but so far I do not see providers offering WWAN on this card or am I mistaken?. (In U.S. at least Verizion and AT&T uses Gobi cards) - any enlightenment on this issue would be greatly welcomed. My understanding is that cellular network data plan could be purchased and initialized via appropriate SIM chip. So far I can only see to use GPS (and I like this), but that should be secondary function of the card with primary cellular network usage.

As long as your hardware supports the technology that's used by the network, you can use any hardware you want. I suppose you'll be able to use the Ericsson H5321gw on any Canadian wireless network that offers UMTS on the frequencies that the H5321gw supports. Here are the tech specs for the H5321gw:

So it should work on the Bell, Telus, SaskTel, MTS and Rogers networks. I didn't check coverage in BC for every single one of these providers, but at least Bell and Rogers have some coverage in BC. You would have to get a SIM from the wireless provider.

Looks good. I'd keep a little of the budget for a SSD.

I have more-less same configuration of my T430 (except for WWAN card) with Intel 6300 AGN card. I also heard some users have some issues with this wireless card, but my one works perfectly - connecting to my Netgear D6300 router @ 450Mbs.

The reason why I opted-out from integrated mobile broadband is that I can always tether internet access from my mobile phone, so I don't have to pay for two SIM cards.

I only thing I upgraded in my T430 was primary HDD - I swapped stock 500GB HDD with SSD one (Samsung 830) and purchased second hdd bay adapter to utilize stock HDD as my secondary one.

With this setup my laptop boot up in approx 14-15 sec.
