Advise upgrading RAM for T430

#1 Post by thaibinhtt » Sat Dec 22, 2012 2:09 am

Dears,

I am considering to upgrade RAM for my T430 with 4Gb RAM stick. I don't know what is the better between additional upgrading another 4 Gb or 8 Gb RAM stick. I want my T430 running with Dual channel RAM, so what should I choose for the best performance of my laptop ?

Anybody has experienced that situation please take time to give me your advice. Thank you so much.

2x4GB of RAM is plenty for most users. If you already have a 4 GB module in there, just get another 4 GB stick. Fortunately DDR3 RAM is cheap these days.

It is likely that your laptop uses 1600MHz DDR3, so get at least that. The Dual Channel is a feature of the chipset, not the RAM. Having both slots populated would have your system running both channels. You could get another 4GB stick, but as Cigarguy said, DDR3 is so cheap, you could also go with 2 8GB sticks for around $35 USD each. I got my 1600MHz 8GB sticks on sale for $25.

Also, you are posting in the wrong forum.

I put in Gskill from newegg- two matched 1600 8GB sticks were under $50 (on sale-- just lucked out on the timing).
