Hi

Looking at buying the T430U laptop, and wanted to understand how to restore in case the system crashed:

1. Planning to order with the Windows 7 Pro OS. Is that with the latest Service Pack?

2. If I start with Win7 Pro, and want to upgrade to Win8 Pro, would that be free, or I have to pay?

3. Does the recovery partition have Win 7 as well as Win 8 software?

4. Can you only burn to an external DVD drive system? or are there other options that are more practical?

5. How long does it take to burn the media? If its more that 30 min, I'd rather get them from Lenovo. Does anyone know how much it costs? I ordered on Dell a few years ago and it was free, not sure how it is with Lenovo.

I have never had a laptop without a CD/DVD, so I am curious how other folks do it.

2. Not free

3. No, you can only have one or the other. If you buy it with Windows 7, yet get a recovery partition. If you buy it with Windows 8, you get nothing. If you get it with Windows 8, you should image the hard drive or SSD as the very first thing you do in case something bad does happen someday.

4. You can use a software program like VirtualCD to burn them on a "virtual disc burner" to an ISO file.

5. Yes, they always take longer.
