Thinkpad wont shutdown or install anything.

#1 Post by Kate630 » Thu Jun 20, 2013 9:51 pm

I just received my Thinkpad T530 two days ago. After one day of perfect use, the Thinkpad developed some problems. I have windows 7 home professional.

Problems:
During boot up, after the windows animation, the Thinkpad shows a black screen for 2-3 minutes. Then it shows the log in screen and then it displays my desktop fine.

Once I'm at my desktop, I can't install ANYTHING. No iTunes, no adobe update, no windows update. I receive no error message, the program will begin to not respond.

Then if I attempt to shut down, the computer gets stuck on the shutdown screen. I left it shutting down for about 90 minutes, and nothing happened.

What I have tried
I have tried resetting the Thinkpad to factory settings, after about 15 min of a normal computer, all of the errors come back.

I also tried re installing windows 7 from disc, and the computer lasted another 15 min, then the errors came back.

I really don't know what to do anymore. If you can help or give suggestions I would really appreciate it, thanks.

Defective hard drive would be my suspicion.

It should be returned for warranty repair/replacement. Neither we, nor you, should have to trouble shoot a brand new computer that is defective.
