odd floating scrollbar when using two fingers on touchpad

There is this odd little floating scrollbar that shows up when I scroll using two fingers on the touchpad when I'm in either Chrome or Firefox. I've gone through the mouse and touchpad control panels but can't figure out how to turn it off.

That scroll icon is typically what you will see when attempting to use the middle button scroll AND with Windows Mouse Properties (Trackpoint tab) set to the scroll option (vs. Magnifying Glass or Neither options).

Thank you for this response. I've set the mouse scrolling options to "neither" and disabled the trackpoint completely and yet the scrollbar image persists. I may just use a usb mouse as the two fingered trackpad scrolling seems to be summoning this image. Thank you for these suggestions.

I updated the synaptic ultranav drivers for windows seven from the Lenovo Japan site and now the scrollbar disappears properly when I'm not using the two finger swipe method.

Here is the US site, which I am assuming will also work:
