Can I get Num Lock functionality on the T530i?

#1 Post by vferdman » Wed Oct 16, 2013 2:30 pm

Hello. My first post to the forum. I have had this T530i since new and I really like it. It's my first Thinlkpad and I think I am hooked. I used to buy cheapo laptops like Acer and have them break in no time. Mostly physical damage, but those things took no effort to break. Bump it on the door jam lightly and the whole chassis is compromised. This Lenovo has been very good so far. One thing I have a problem with is the Num Lock, which has been done away with in this design. I still find it useful to enter Alt codes for special characters. Is there a way to bring the function of the Num Lock back? I do not intend to use it for number pad functionality on the letters, just for the Alt codes. I am already running MyHotKey to disable get rid of the CapsLock as I used to hit it every time I tried typing 'A', so I remapped the CapsLock to some other combination, which works real well. I think CapsLock is pretty useless and the fact that it's one of the largest keys on the keyboard right next to 'A' does not make it any better. Anyway, is there a way I could toggle NumLock using a hot key combination of some sort?

Thanks!
