Hello

I have ThinkPad T530 (2392-3GG). I intend to install Plextor M5M 256GB, mSATA 6Gb/s in this notebook as OS drive.

And use existing ssd in drive bay for system cache and databases. The current ssd is Corsair Force 3 SSD 120GB.

Now, the only thing i cant confirm for sure is, what is the speed of mSata? Is it sata II or is it Sata III?
If it is Sata II, then maybe OPlextor is overkill? And will it be slower than ssd currently installed in main drive bay?

thank you for answers!

regards

It's SATA II. There's only two in the chipset and Lenovo chose to use them elsewhere. The Haswell chipset allows for four SATA III connections, but ironically, Lenovo dumped the mSATA option for the new ThinkPads.

I wouldn't really be concerned about whether it's SATA II or III. The benefit of a SSD for most uses is the latency, how fast data can be found and read. The latency for all SSDs, regardless of whether it's SATA I, II or III is like .1ms. They're all fast. I'd buy on price from a reputable brand and you should be good.

So, you think any decent mSata should be appropriate for OS drive instead of current one?
And I wont feel any difference in speed comparing to current corsair in normal disc bay?
