T430 or T530

#1 Post by indicium » Mon Nov 18, 2013 6:34 pm

I am looking at upgrading from my T410 and looking for opinions on either the T430 or T530, now that Lenovo is trying to clear out stock for the newer models. I'm looking at Top Sellers not custom orders off the website. My Primary need is having 16 GB Ram as I use VM's a lot. The next issue is screen resolution, 1600x900 or 1920x1080?

Well, if you need the screen real estate the obvious choice is T530 with a FHD (1920x1080) screen which is far better than any other offerings...

In my opinion, going from T42 to T420 with 1600x900 screen, the tiny real estate (only 85 square inches) of the 14" laptops is a big problem. You will be much happier with a 15.6" laptop. A 16:9 laptop has 16% less screen real estate than a 4:3 laptop of the same diagonal measure. So get the 15.6" laptop, it will have the equivalent area of a 13.3" screen (4:3) from yesteryear ...

Lots of thinkpads (10+) but I would never be so stupid as to list them all because that would spam everybody's searches and people who *do* try to list them all would be jerks.
