Okay, noob here. I was following these directions
http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-mi ... ng-windows
Bought a caddy and an SSD. Popped out the DVD Multi, placed SSD into caddy, inserted into T430, it tells me "Driver has been successfully installed", but when I look at my computers Hard Disk Drives I only see Drive C. PLEASE HELP ME! I thought, "Oh yeah, I've got this!" Well, I don't. The above link made it sound so easy. What did I miss? Thanks!

Welcome to thinkpads.com!
It sounds like the SSD has not yet been initialized, partitioned and formatted. Assuming you are using Windows, you can do this by going to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management utility.
The link you supplied is either incorrect or the site is currently off-line. Given the text within the URL it sounds like you are trying to clone your existing hard drive contents onto the SSD, correct? Before you do anything else (including the action described above), tell us exactly what you goal is here.

Thank you rkawakami. Yes, I was looking for something simple and wanted to clone my existing hard drive to the SSD. After that was done, I was going to remove the caddy, put the SSD into the HDD bay, and reinstall the DVD Multi. Thanks again. Oh, and my OS is Windows 7.

if it's a samsung drive then you can simply follow their instructions as I know they work.
if you havent put ahci on then look here for instructions on how to do it...
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-a ... -p/1384685
then put your c hdd in your caddy and boot off that once you have put your sdd in where your hdd had been.
then clone in whatever way you have decided is best for you. so put simply with this it's best to clone into C: drive having booted of your caddy.

Hi Guys, I have a T530 and looking to change the existing hdd for a Samsung SSD, can you please tell me if I need to go through the routine of changing the ahci for this or can I follow the Samsung instructions using their software.
Thanks

AHCI is a setting in BIOS. Ever since the days of the T61, with the latest BIOS updates, the default SATA setting is AHCI. You can easily check yours by going into BIOS. I'm willing to bet that it's already set to AHCI mode.
Whenever going from HDD to SSD, I much prefer and almost always do a fresh install. That way I get exactly what I want. Don't take that long either and is usually done watching a hockey or football game over a few beers. I almost always have my data on a separate partition or drive so it's really easy to cover over my data once the new system is setup exactly as I want it.

Thank you for that information. I have checked the bios and it is set as AHCI so I will go ahead and copy it. I have to copy it as a one partition as win and Office were purchased as downloads, so I am not sure I can reinstall them. However I am grateful for your assistance.
