Sorry if this is a FAQ, but:

I got a T440S with the realtek wifi card, which isn't working out for me, and Lenovo doesn't have any of the Intel cards in stock (0.o), so I literally cannot pay them to fix this except by *returning the whole laptop*. ;_;

Before I knew about the whitelist, I got a compatible Intel card from newegg, but it doesn't work.

Can anyone help me out with a de-whitelisted BIOS, or instructions on how to make one, or anything? The official downloads are at V in case that helps.

It is impossible to use a mod-BIOS on any ThinkPad since 2012, since the newer UEFI-BIOS versions are "secured" and encrypted, and impossible to mod.

You will have to return the machine or buy an genuine Lenovo part.

They have started using Insyde BIOS instead of the more popular Phoenix BIOS versions.

I would be happy to buy a genuine Lenovo part but they won't let me. ;_; (they're out of stock)

Check the info about an X230, which has the same type of BIOS:

Check that website (and/or Google) for similar models like T430, T440, X230, X240 etc.

What about just buying the Lenovo Intel card on eBay? I bought those for all my older Thinkpads no issues. Just make sure it is for Lenovo and not the generic one such as this one:

you can join http://www.bios-mods.com/ and asked for removing whitelist BIOS there.
however, AFAIK there's no software way YET to write modified BIOS for >= T430 or >= X230.
you should done it using hardware flash programmer with the help of SOIC clip or replacing the chip.
i've personally do the first option (SOIC clip) with success.

Other easier method is getting the wifi card that is in the whitelist.
you can use andy phoenix tool to extract the bios, and check the module having the listed card using hex editor.
then go buy the card in ebay.
