T440S, do I remove the screen protector?

Hi all
I received my new T440s last week, my third ThinkPad to replace an accidently damaged X230. Very impressed so far, the new touchpad is actually much better than I was expecting but I do wish that real mouse buttons were still available for the track point though.
The T440s was received by my IT department so I didn't unbox it myself. I can see on the touch screen that there is a screen protector of some sort, I am guessing that it is supposed to be there because there are cut outs for the webcam etc? Or is this something that needs to be removed i.e. being a sturdy transit cover?
Any thoughts from other T440s owners appreciated. Thank you in advance
