Flash to BIOS 2.60 Fails

I have a new T530 (2359CTO) that will not resume from sleep. I press the flashing power button and the drive light blinks and then it boots into the "Windows did not shut down successfully" screen. Once it is resumed the Intel NIC (82579LM) does not work, but after another reboot all is fine. I have updated everything from Microsoft and Lenovo so now trying to update the BIOS. I burned the 2.60 BIOS to a CD and boot to it, I follow the instructions and get the "Now updating..." screen and then it reboots. One of two things happens, the first is nothing, it just boots into windows. The second is it sits on the "BIOS loading" screen. Forever. As in over an hour, until I hold the power button. Same type of results with the Windows BIOS update program. One strange thing I noticed is that it looks like the BIOS and ECP are out of sync. Currently I have BIOS 2.54 and ECP 1.13 but according to the support website 2.54 should have ECP 1.11 and the BIOS 2.60 should have the ECP 1.13.

Anyone know how to "force" and update to the BIOS?
Should I try to "downgrade" and put on something like 2.57 which should have ECP 1.12?

Yeah, try to downgrade to an older version and then upgrade. Why do you need a new BIOS anyway, do you want to use a device that is not supported in your current BIOS version?

I ended up pulling everything out of the laptop (SSD/HDD/16GB RAM) and putting back just the factory RAM and booted from the ISO once more, this seemed to do the trick. It updated the BIOS and reloaded the ECP.
Note to self, when dealing with BIOS: KISS.
