T530 HD+ display issue

#1 Post by SamTheRam » Sun Aug 03, 2014 4:38 am

Hi,
I recently bought a used T530 and I'm really happy with it, except for the display. It's a 1600x900 HD+ Disply by AUO, Type B156RW01 V.1. In comparison to my previous laptop (T61 with 1680x1050 resolution) the sharpness is definitely worse: black text on white ground looks washed out. Same impression when taking a look through the magnifier on pixel level: the text boarders in case of the T530 are looking broader and somehow more "antialiased".
Is there any recommendation for a compatible display with a better sharpness from AUO (e.g. later model) of from any other panel manufacturer?

Your best bet would be to get a FHD 1080p screen that was available for the T530/W530. It is an excellent panel (even though TN) with rich colors and good contrast. If the resolution is too high, you can always bump up DPI setting to make everything bigger without reducing image quality (works well with most programs).
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, T23, 600X, 770
Other: mk5 Toughbook cf-19, mk1 Toughbook cf-53
