T440 keyboard variances and LCD variances?

#1 Post by Theokretes » Thu Sep 04, 2014 8:22 pm

So at my work we had a few of the new T440s pass through. I must say over the T430 (which I hated), the T440 really added some zest to things. Firstly I love the brown colour, the integrated trackpoint-numpad has a very satisfying feel when clicking-- although I hate how it can get confused thinking I want to move the cursor... I bet you can disable the touchpad feature to solve that. And the keyboard is pretty decent-- it's no NMB T60 'board, but definitely useable and pretty good as far as chiclets go. I'm still irritated that they removed the lavender enter key.

Now to my two points:

#1 is anyone aware of the major differences between keyboards? I noted that one of the T440s had a keyboard I liked better than some of the other ones.

#2 did anyone have any LCD issues? One of the T440s we had would get some pressure on the corner of the screen every time the lid was closed... (similar to when you poke your finger at an LCD and the liquid moves around). I noticed the USA assembled thinkpads tend to have a lot of problems over the Chinese assembled ones, which are usually flawless.

Cheers.
2x T60p, 1x T61, loads of 701Cs, 1x WorkPad Z50, 2x TransNotes other random thinkpads...
