T540P LCD IPS full HD
Hello.
I would like to change the 1366x768 TN original display on my T540p, with one 1920x1080 IPS screen.
Could you advise me some precise model?
Thanks.

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
Lenovo has no 15.6" IPS panel with FHD (1920x1080) resolution option. Only the "low" hi-res 2880 x 1620 is IPS. Silly ? Yes. But Acer and others for half-price of Lenovo have such option.

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
Thanks all.
I have read differents opinions about originals LCD available for this laptop and I'm not sure that the original replacement will be the best choice for me, in terms of image quality.
I have found some compatible display here http://www.screencountry.com/index.php? ... IBM-Lenovo I dont know about quality, I think that producers like LG , Samsung are offering better quality, but unfortunately I dont see any information about producers in that website.
I will search more.

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
Again, all these Lenovo panels are horrible TN panels except the '04X4064 FRU for Panasonic 15.5" FHD++' which is IPS but has awkward low "hi-res" resolution.edivad wrote:I have read differents opinions about originals LCD available for this laptop and I'm not sure that the original replacement will be the best choice for me, in terms of image quality.
Most of IPS panels are made by LG (Samsung has "developed" PLS panels because of license/patent fees for IPS technology) . There are nice 15.6" FHD IPS matte panels in recent Acer models.

Sorry but... here the Item ID: 911983540, they write that it is IPS.Puppy wrote:Again, all these Lenovo panels are horrible TN panels except the '04X4064 FRU for Panasonic 15.5" FHD++' which is IPS but has awkward low "hi-res" resolution.edivad wrote:I have read differents opinions about originals LCD available for this laptop and I'm not sure that the original replacement will be the best choice for me, in terms of image quality.

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
It is either wrong description or the panel is not Lenovo original part. Check PSREF http://www.lenovo.com/psref/ Product Collections, page 56. There is no Lenovo official T540p configuration with 1920x1080 IPS panel.edivad wrote:Sorry but... here the Item ID: 911983540, they write that it is IPS.

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
Correct, but OP Is looking for FHD (1920 x 1080), and Lenovo offers only garbage with that resolution in 15.6" format...killer wrote:My T540p came with a 2880 x 1620 full HD+ screen.

@edivad: Did you find a display?
I'm in this exact situation. I have a 20BE003AUS T540P and want to upgrade the screen to FHD (or more).

no I'm still waiting for some additional information about the quality of after maket ips display. I dont know if I will upgrade my panel or thinking to a new Lenovo x50 series... I use my notebook for 90% connected to a external IPS monitor, for me is not urgent upgrade for now.

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
I've just taken delivery of a T540p with the 1920x1080 TN panel.
It's absolutely terrible.

How about thesE:

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
if i remember correctly, someone posted about successfully upgrading to IPS after market upgrade, that are not original Lenovo FRU on the xx40 series (maybe was the T440p or T440 or T540 or T540p)

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
yeah, i'm trying to confirm which the exact model it was.
After posting here I found another mention on this forum (post #19):
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads ... 404/page-2
he mentions upgrading to a different panel from LG:
http://www.panelook.com/LP156WF4-SPB1_L ... 17533.html
which looks promising but I'm not sure how reliable those suppliers are etc and I'm still trying to get a price quote
I'm also trying to figure out about surface type, at that link it says IPS with antiglare coating.
How does that differ from matte surface, I want to avoid the shiny reflective stuff

matte = antiglare
glossy = glare

the guy at the link you posted says that he bought from screencountry.
i did buy a screen from screencountry once before too.
I had to contact their support and verify that they have the exact screen part number in stock,
their support told me to put in the comment while buying "exact model only", so that they do not ship any other compatible part.
I suggest you contact their support chat, they seem fairly helpful.

Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
thank you sir for your feedback!
Re: T540P LCD IPS full HD
Does anyone succeeded in upgrading the 1366x768 with a FHD?
My screen attaches at its side with screw to a thin metal strip attached to hinges.
The FHD screens I have found have instead 4 tabs a bit offset from teh screen corners
Any advice on which screen to buy and will be helpful.
Thanks
