T430/440 Keyboard Swap Question -

Hi all, Any idea if one can swap the standard US shipped keyboard on a T430 or T440 for a Spanish language keyboard without any problems? I am guessing yes because logic says they would occupy the same space in the design, just with keys rearranged. Want to make sure connectors & all other hardware pieces would accommodate the change. Then am guessing would just have to change Region/Keyboard settings in Windows and get a language pack?

For reference on the T430 here are the two keyboards

(Spanish keyboard) http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-FOR-Lenovo- ... 234aa9ac0b

(US) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-New-IB ... 3cf4288ca1

Thank you so much for your help!

Welcome to the forum!

You can swap the keyboards within the same model range, the layout itself doesn't matter.

However, you can't install a keyboard from T430 onto T440 or vice versa.

Thank you for the welcome - and thanks for the reply! If I do swap it then, I should be able to change necessary settings, etc on Windows 7 to correspond with the new keyboard even if the laptop shipped as a US English model?

You can add the Spanish keyboard layout but the OS will remain the way it is.

Control Panel>Region And Language>Keyboards and Languages
