keyboard problem T540p

I recently purchased a T540p and brought it to Africa for a colleague. I tested it first and everything seemed fine. It is running a fresh installation of Windows 7 Pro with only the original 4GB RAM installed.

Now, however, during start-up I hear a faint "stuttering" sound. It's something like 10-12 rapid-fire "beeps" (too quick to count), and quite unlike the traditional error beeps that I'm used to hearing (when there is a problem during start-up). Once the laptop boots up it shows sluggish performance and the "B" and "N" keys are unresponsive.

Do any of the above symptoms ring a bell? The laptop is under warranty. However, I would have to bring it back to the U.S. to be fixed. That's doable, but would be a royal pain, so I thought I would first look for a fix from this forum of experts.

Thanks!

Try replugging the keyboard and the CMOS battery while you are at it. Also, try booting of a usb flash drive with linux to see if you get the same issues.

Thanks!. Unplugging and replugging the keyboard seems to have fixed the problem!
