T420 to T430 Drive Swap

Is it possible to take the main hard drive from my T420 and put it in my T430?
I tried it today but got several errors on startup followed by blue screen and crash. Nothing specific that I could search for.

I know there are driver issues but I had assumed I can get going in safe mode and then update the drivers.

The reason I need to do this is that I have several programs installed for which I no longer have the install files and I need the config to work.

Not that it really matters but the hard drive is an SSD drive.

Any suggestions as to what I could try next would be appreciated

Thanks

Try sticking the drive back into the original machine and uninstall any drivers specific to the machine.

I strongy recommend NOT to do that. Switching HDD from T420 to T430 is the same as changing motherboard with new chipset and CPU in PC. If it would run, you will run into strange problems.

Only right solution is clean install. Sorry for that.

Put the drive back in the old machine, and try to install the new machine's motherboard and chipset drivers from there

It's possible to switch out drives but you will run into far more conflicts than the effort is worth. I would suggest using a USB HDD docking station to read your SSD from another computer.
