My t430 system has poor battery life on windows 10

When I had my native windows 7 setup..My battery life was amazing. 7 hrs easily. With 9 cell battery.

But ever since I upgraded to windows 10...my battery life has dwindled to 3hrs. And the cpu is always running hot.

I guess lenovo optimized the t430 for windows 7/8. Which makes sense. Anybody else experiencing the same thing on their machine??

On a side note...the t430 is my favorite thinkpad of all time. It has excellent battery life, lots of ports, msata capability, backlit keys, the last thinkpad with 4 tactile mouse buttons for trackpad and pointing stick. Only thing I iwsh it had was 1080p resolution for the 14inch model. But 1600x900 is lovely. Every thinkpad that came out after seems to have cut corners to be more like an ultra book. sigh..

All the new, fluffy features of W10 are probably causing it.
Use Process Explorer to monitor which programs are eating up CPU time, and see if it's possible to safely disable them.

windows 7 is the last OS that has classic desktop theme that doesn't require gfx accelaration.

So with win7, you gfx cores are usually sleeping, while in windows 8/10, the classic desktop theme is now gone.

Windows 7 with aero enabled will use battery somewhat close to windows 8/10 with transparency.
