Frosty looking B140HAN01.1 for T440

So, after many assurances the Aliexpress seller would indeed send me the exact part B140HAN01.2 and many months of anticipation waiting for it to arrive, I excitedly open up my package to discover the B140HAN01.1 model.

I decided to fit it anyway but the frostiness I had heard about while researching the best options is very apparent to me.
While overall probably still a big improvement over the 1366 x 768 screen I simply cannot UNSEE the frostiness!!!

I have opened a dispute for a full refund, like the backlit keyboard I got that was not backlit! Can I post the link to the screen here? It's extra disappointing as clearly many buyers did request and receive the exact part B140HAN01.2

Fingers crossed I get my money back and I'll probably continue my quest for a B140HAN01.2

Unfortunately it can be quite difficult to get hold of the right screen through these resellers.

I managed to source one from UK after two attempts. The first amazon seller promised to send the right model but I received a crappy innolux panel that wasn't even a IPS one :S Ended up costing me a lot in shipping as they denied to cover anything.

Secondly I ordered the panel from a ebay seller which was a bit more expensive on the screen - But that paid off. Both service and the panel was perfect. Received it just two days later.

But even the 01.2 model has a bit of frostiness to it. Haven't seen the .1 model in comparison though. But other than that it is a huge upgrade so keep looking for the right panel.

Thanks for commenting. How much did your screen cost? Interesting that you say it also has some frostiness to it.

My Aliexpress dispute was resolved by a mediator as the seller insisted he had sent me the correct screen, crafty bugger. Thankfully the mediator decided a 50% refund was in order and although I'd rather have paid the 82 dollars for a 1.2 screen, getting the 1.1 model for 41 dollars can't be bad.

I still feel slightly let down by the fact that the AUO V4 FHD screen in my T530 appears to be superior than the AUO 1.1 in my much newer T440.

Try this calibrated color profile for your screen:

Was this for me? Unfortunately I got the 1.1 version.

Sorry for the very late reply - I completely forgot about this thread.

Mine was more expensive at 50 GBP. I live in Denmark where the import taxes on stuff from outside EU is silly so i bought it from the UK.

The screen is OK but I have a hard time adjusting to the matte finish.

No worries, seems like you're just as disappointed as me with the anti-glare/matte coating, which is strange because I understood the 1.2 version didn't suffer from this.

Are you used to having previous Thinkpad matte displays?

I've had both T40 and T400 Thinkpads previously. Then MacBook's for a couple of years and now this. And I must admit that both display and overall quality is disappointing. My work PC is a Dell Precision with a matte screen and that does not look frosty at all.

You're right, it is very disappointing, particularly the screen for me. Although as I bought an unboxed T440 fairly cheap on ebay to be a mobile, thin and lightweight laptop I can't complain too much about some of the sacrifices they've made to achieve that.

At least I feel less hard done by receiving the Auo 1.1 screen.
